On 7th September 1942 a Japanese force including the Light Cruiser Tenryu were approaching Milne Bay. In retaliation the RAAF planned their first co-ordinated attack of the Pacific War including Beaufort torpedo bombers of 100 SQN RAAF with support from Beaufighters of 30 SQN RAAF and Kittyhawks of 75 and 76 SQNs RAAF.
